THE BLACKSLATE STORY

Slate is a natural building block that embodies timeless strength and durability; characteristics that fit well with what our practice stands for. In years gone by slate slabs have been marked with chalk to practice arithmetic and record charges in pubs; a fundamental role of an accountant that still exists today. They were also used for brainstorming, problem solving and hands-on collaboration to achieve the best possible solution, a value that is at the very core of our practice.

The Blackslate brand launched in 2018, although our story and tight-knit team came together much earlier. The business really began in 2000 when Peter Spurdle went out on his own. In 2015 Peter sold the business to Craig Kilmister who has since taken up the challenge of moving this well-established business forward.
